AnchorWorks

Auditor Verification Walkthrough

This walkthrough demonstrates how third parties can independently verify governance evidence produced by AnchorWorks without trusting AnchorWorks, the operator, or any intermediary.

Step 1: Receipt Inspection

Obtain a receipt from the evidence locker. The receipt contains the event hash, Merkle proof, batch root, and ledger reference.

Step 2: Hash Recalculation

Recompute the SHA-256 hash of the original event payload. Compare against the hash in the receipt. If they match, the event content is unchanged.

Step 3: Merkle Proof Reconstruction

Using the Merkle proof siblings, reconstruct the path from leaf to root. Compare the recomputed root against the batch root in the receipt.

Step 4: Ledger Observation

Query ForgeRun's public ledger for the batch root. Observe whether the commitment is present and when it was anchored.

Trust Requirements

The verification process requires no trust in AnchorWorks. All cryptographic operations can be performed independently using standard tools.
